Sammy (named Favorite’s Fellow) is a 23-year-old Tennessee Walking Horse who retired to Ryerss on April 2, 2018, when his owner was no longer able to ride.
Sammy spent his first 10 years in Tennessee showing in local gaited horse shows. After arriving in Pennsylvania, he became a trusted and brave trail horse. He went on camping trips at Gettysburg National Park and other sites throughout Pennsylvania. For 11 years he was part of the Park Watch Program in Valley Forge National Park, patrolling the more remote areas of the Park.
Sammy especially loves children and is always gentle around them. Sammy comes to Ryerss with his new buddy Comanche. When Comanche was in need of a friend and protector, Sammy became that friend and the two now have a special bond.
