Love Never Retires: Celebrate National I Love Horses Day with Ryerss Farm

A black horse grazes in a field of grass.

At Ryerss Farm for Aged Equines, every day is an opportunity to celebrate the extraordinary lives of horses. But on National I Love Horses Day, observed annually on July 15th, we take a special moment to honor the deep and enduring bond between people and horses—and to recognize the importance of equine welfare, especially for those in their retirement years.

This nationally recognized day invites all who admire and appreciate horses to reflect on their role in our history, lives, and hearts. Whether you are an equestrian, an animal enthusiast, or someone who finds peace in these noble animals' presence, this day is a meaningful reminder of why horses deserve our lifelong care and gratitude.

Celebrating Our Senior Horses
A group of horses graze in a large grass field.

For centuries, horses have been our companions, partners, and trusted friends—from the battlefield to the barnyard, the show ring to the trail. At Ryerss Farm, we honor that lifelong service by giving them the retirement they deserve.

We care for over 70 senior horses, many of whom were once riding partners, show champions, or beloved family members. Now, they spend their golden years in our peaceful pastures, grazing under the sun, enjoying gentle care, and forming new bonds with herd mates and visitors alike.

Their gray muzzles, wise eyes, and quiet resilience remind us of the importance of compassion and why this holiday is so meaningful to us. We believe a horse’s worth grows with age and that love never retires.
