Looking To Volunteer at an Equine Rescue / Sanctuary? Here’s Why We Think That You Should

Updated: May 14, 2020

Helping Horses in Need

This is an opportunity to express your love for horses and feel great knowing that you're helping to provide them with the care that they need. Many have come from abusive situations or are simply no longer wanted. Fortunately, at Ryerss Farm for Aged Equines, the majority of our horses have not come from cruel environments and are now enjoying a comfortable retirement. They look forward to the daily human interaction with our volunteers.

Volunteering is a great way to enhance your talents and knowledge.

Expand Your Talents and Knowledge

Volunteering is a great way to enhance your talents and knowledge. Volunteering allows you to learn new skills, such as rehabilitation, training, grooming, and feeding horses. These

are beneficial when caring for your own horse, as well as horses in need. They are also valuable skills for those contemplating a veterinary career (at any level). Finally, you will be exposed to other perspectives and new ideas in horse care from volunteers and staff.

Volunteering at Ryerrs can offer other ways to grow your network of horse lovers.

Meeting Others Who Love Horses

Working hours and hours, day after day at the barn isn’t the only thing that goes on at a horse facility. It also includes meeting others with whom you have a common bond. You might participate in planning events and fundraisers or donate time to help manage an event. These can offer other ways to grow your network of horse lovers.

As a volunteer, you will be performing a generous act by caring for horses who need your help.

Volunteering is Rewarding

Volunteering is rewarding at any age. There is no better way to give back than to help an animal. As a volunteer, you will be performing a generous act by caring for horses who need your help. Volunteering is fulfilling, and it will make you feel good about yourself and the incredible impact you are having on the well-being of the horses. Volunteering can include anything from cleaning stalls to decorating for fund-raising events. This is an activity that is great for your emotional and physical well-being!
