A Year in Review at Ryerss Farm

What a year it has been here at Ryerss Farm! After a year of being apart it was so enjoyable to be able to be together again and for the horses were able to enjoy the company of others! We would not have had such a great year if not for our dedicated staff and volunteers, and of course, all of our wonderful guests and supporters. Our horses appreciate all the visitors and the love and attention they receive. We look forward to what the following years have in store for Ryerss. For now, let’s look back on some of our best moments of 2021.

We celebrated lots of birthdays and anniversaries - Every horse at Ryerss not only celebrates their birthday every year, but we also recognize them on their retirement anniversary! Retirement anniversaries recognize the number of years since our beloved residents began their stay at Ryerss Farm. We had some horses celebrating their first anniversary and some who have been here for many years. We love getting new residents and adding them to the herd around the farm!

133rd Birthday Party - This year, Ryerss Farm celebrated 133 years since its establishment in 1888. The birthday party celebrated Ryerss Farm years of hard work and dedication to senior equines. Horse lovers enjoyed a BBQ complete with beer, wine, and soft drinks, as well as country music and dancing under the tent! Guests were able to get a tour of the 383-acre farm with hayrides and visited our residents. It was a beautiful night full of music, raffle drawings, community, and fun. The night would not have been possible without the generosity of our business sponsors and individual contributions and for that, we say thank you!

Run for the Horses - We were again able to have our Run for the Horses event earlier this year in April. Volunteers got the opportunity to walk or run to benefit Ryerss Farm residents. It was a lovely day as runners made their way through the trails of the farm and were cheered on by our herd. Be sure to stay tuned for details about the annual race for next year. We are grateful to everybody who participated!

Lots of guests this year - It was heart-warming to see the many visitors of all ages coming to enjoy our much-loved senior equines. Whether you came to feed the horses treats, walk our farm grounds, or volunteer, you made a significant impact on our residents at Ryerss Farm. We would not be what we are today if it wasn’t for the support of our donors and all those who love our horses as much as we do. We look forward to welcoming horse lovers to our farms for many years to come!

These are some of the reasons which contributed to Ryerss Farm being named Best of Pottstown for 2021. This has been an incredible year and we are confident that life on the farm for our horses will only get better. Nothing could be accomplished without the commitment of our many donors and volunteers. If you would like to join our team or donate to support Ryerss Farm, please visit our website! We look forward to seeing you soon!
